Lots of Fun Things

The mountains look like mid-June but it feels like spring – warm days and cold nights. Each day, I hear more and more birdsong and see more tufts of green. Today was the first day I saw chipmunks out to torment the dogs. No hummingbirds yet.  The bull elk have tossed their horns and they look pretty funny without them.

If you have visited the Stanley Hotel here in Estes Park, it is likely you have heard about Miss Elizabeth. She was a beloved housekeeper at the Stanley Hotel in 1911 when she was badly burned while lighting a gas lamp. She recovered from that accident but it is believed that after her death, her spirit returned to haunt the now infamous Room 217. The Miss Elizabeth crocheted shawl was designed by Christianna Frenette-Bowland who imagined that as a housekeeper, Miss Elizabeth likely wore shawls that were practical and warm, but still attractive.

Chipmunks are out and about and to celebrate, we have a new Foundation Paper Pieced kit of a Chipmunk from Lover of Life Designs. More patterns and kits from Lover of Life Designs will be released over the next couple of months!

Continuing our celebration of all things fish, camping, and hunting, check out these new button sets. While they can be used as, well, buttons, they also make great embellishments.

For lovers of trouth and fishing, we have a Laura Heine Trout Collage class coming July 17th that will use Heine's strip technique to make a Trout. Heine’s technique can be applied to any type of applique – come have a creative day and create a fish wall hanging or a placemat!

Our new Whisper collection brings thoughts of summer days – there is a beautiful panel in shades of cream and teal, along with 2 blenders. This collection has been very popular with in-store shoppers.

If you joined us for our birthday party back in February, you likely made a fabric postcard for our make-and-take project. We now have kits available that include everything you need to make these fun cards – and yes, the cards can be mailed! For a bit of fun, add a kit to your order of pick one up when next in the store.

We have a new blender collection called Mirage in from Northcott. These fabrics are in beautiful colors that have both movement and depth.

If you are coming to Estes Park for the summer and are interested in a part-time job, please send an email to Catherine at info@peaktopeakstitching.com.
