Hi everyone! Sorry it has been so long since the last newsletter – August was a challenging month on many fronts and I’m catching back up. The funny thing is that every time I walk my dogs in the morning, I compose a newsletter in my head…now if I could just get it from my head to paper easily!!!!
Fall is definitely pushing summer out bit by bit each day. The aspen, grasses, and bushes are getting lighter with some true gold and red leaves here and there on the ground. Fall flowers are out. All but one lonely hummingbird is at my feeder now – this is such a change because at the height of summer there would be 15-20 birds buzzing around the feeder. Elk are bugling and gathering “their” cows, bucks are losing their fuzz, the bears are stripping every berry bush in sight, and the elk calves and deer fawns are losing their spots. The nights are in the low 40s now and days are cool – it is a great time in the mountains.

Since I haven’t written in so long, you might have guessed that a lot has been going on in the shop. The biggest news is that our special order of many of the Charley Harper Rocky Mountain Collection came in (along with some other new Charley Harper fabrics). If you love Charley Harper, we have some fun fabrics for you!!! We also have plenty of Rocky Mountain panels and our Charley Harper Rocky Mountain Quilt kits in stock.
Midwinter Magic is beautiful holiday collection in shades of purple, blue, and green. We do not carry much holiday focused fabric, but I couldn’t resist the beautiful colors in this line. Besides, the panel features a deer!
A very special signature batik that we designed with Island Batik came in that has tossed chipmunks, squirrels, and rabbits. This complements our Pika and Marmot batik!
One of the best fox collections I've seen came in – Fox Den. The colors are rich and vibrant fall colors and the foxes are truly stunning. We have this kitted as well. What I really liked about the kit pattern is the use of the ombre stripe as a border.
I want to highlight some upcoming classes. The first is Passport to Piecing – this class is geared for students new to quilting. If you have ever wanted to learn quilting or get a refresh on the basics, join this class taught by Leslie and make some pretty holiday placemats in the process of learning a new skill!
Next up beginning on September 20th is a Tunisian Crochet Sampler Series. Learn 20 new Tunisian crochet stitches while creating a beautiful Afghan. The class will run for 7 months on the third Saturday of each month.
A student favorite is being offered one last time this year on October 18th - our Rope Basket Class.
Our Facebook Lives on Friday mornings are back! We will have a bit of a different sequence going forward. Tune in and see what each week brings!
Because of some unforeseen circumstances, we will NOT be at the Garden of Quilts In Utah this year.
Happy early Fall!
