Green = Spring is coming
Remember last week when I talked about the little green sprouts? Here is a picture of how the grass has grown. I know this does not look like much, but it is GREEN! The day after I took this picture it got cold and has been snowing and icing ever since. That is more than ok though since we REALLY need the water. What is strange is that the high peaks, especially the western slope mountains, are at or above normal snowpack levels, while here on the east side of the Continental Divide at the lower elevations (as in 7000’ to 10,000’), not so much.
Spring IS coming and we have some lovely new Tangerine Coneflowers and Golden Mums fabric in stock to get you thinking about flowers.
Batiks are always in season and we have new batiks from Anthology Fabrics in dark teal and orange. These batiks are colorful and have non-directional patterns that can be used in many ways.
For all of you fishermen and women out there that also love Foundation Paper Piecing (or for you quilters who know some fisher people), this month’s FPP pattern is a leaping rainbow trout.
Knitters, Nancy Bates is coming out with a new book towards the end of the year to celebrate the bi-sesquicentennial (250 years) anniversary of our country on July 26, 2026. It is her All American Collection and, in the book, she will have a pattern for each state. We will be kitting selective states as Nancy releases some patterns over the next few months. For now, we are kitting Colorado (think elk and aspen), Texas (think cowboy boots), Nebraska (think Sandhill Cranes), and Kansas (think wheat fields).
Where can you find us outside of Estes Park to get your mountain fix? We will be at the Boise Idaho Quilt, Craft, and Sewing Show May 8 – 10 (booth #608) or you can find us at the Castle Rock, Colorado Quilt Craft and Sewing Festival May 29 – 31. We have also applied to be a vendor at the Garden of Quilts in Salt Lake City.
The NoCo Shop Hop, June 5 – 14 will be here before you know it! Start planning your route now to visit all 13 shops. Stop in each participating shop to get each store’s exclusive pattern and get your passport stamped. Everyone who visits all 13 shops will be entered to win amazing gift baskets. Check out the website for additional information.
