Things That Go Grunt in the Dark

.

It is late fall here in the mountains - most of the trees have lost their leaves (courtesy of the winds we have had the last few days), the ground is covered in crunchy yellow leaves, the air is clear and there is a nip in the morning, the peaks have a light dusting of snow, and the deer and elk are herding up. There have been no bear sightings that I know of recently so the bears are in hibernation. The hummingbird’s left a while ago and it seems like most songbirds have now left as well. I thought I knew my night noises until the other night when I heard a grunt, a sound I had never heard before. It happened again and there was a response from just up the road. Then silence. Maybe a kid making a noise from a nearby rental property? It was certainly not a melodious elk bugle nor a deer bleat. What it turned out to be was a bull moose call. What animal is the most dangerous animal in Rocky Mountain National Park? The moose. I went inside! I am putting it out there that the moose mating call is not going to win any love song contest!!!

This week we received a beautiful and novel 7 piece collection from Northcott called Stonehenge Ombre. Check out this pattern called Sundown which uses these ombres to make a 32” x 32” wall hanging. (We have kits available.) For landscape quilters, these fabrics could be useful!

Back in stock are Aspen Gold kits.

On the notions side of things, we are now carrying Clover Stack ‘N Store Bobbin Towers. These are great for corralling bobbins, especially if you are traveling. We have a left and right handed 6” x 6” square Glow Rulers. These rulers have a light that illuminates the ruler, making it easier to see what you are cutting.

We have had a lot of retreat groups coming through this week! It is always fun to see old friends and make new ones.

Take care everyone!
