Fall in the Rockies!
What a beautiful fall this has been! Estes Park has truly enjoyed one of the longest and most colorful falls in recent memory. While peak color was last weekend, there is still plenty of color left in pockets all over. The bull elk are still bugling and fighting over the ladies and the deer are now starting to herd up a bit as well. While first snow on the mountains fell a couple of weeks ago, it is long gone. The mountains are shades of gray in the long fall light against the brilliant blue fall skies. There is still plenty of hiking to be had as we seem to be continuing in this tranquil, warm weather pattern. Come see us!!
It has been a (toooooo) long while since I last wrote a newsletter. (What happened to September anyway?) A lot has been happening in the store.
For all of you Foundation Paper Piecing (FPP) fans, there are now four blocks available as patterns or kits: Stellar Blue Jay, Indian Paintbrush, Coyote, and Ruby Throated Hummingbird. Each kit comes with a link to a how-to video on FPP basics as well as a video with tips specific to that kit.
Newly launched are exclusive, custom designed appliques by Westfield Laser: black bear, big horn sheep, bobcat, columbine, stellar jay, elk, moose, fox, owl, and, my favorite, a pika! These can easily be added to just about anything from pillows to quilts to dishtowels (think easy to make gifts!). We have the appliques in color and some also in black silhouettes, as a single animal or as a family unit. Check these out!
There are three new Quilted Legends patterns and kits out to make 1/4 size versions (wall-hanging size) of the Fox, the Ram, and the Cougars. In addition, we have the stand-alone pattern of Bear Cubs Table Runner. (Check out the Quickie 1-Day Retreat on October 19th.)
Yarn wise, the Home on the Range Collection of yarn by Little Squirrel is back in stock and we have expanded our Malabrigo Chunky yarn offerings. We are working towards having all of the Nancy Bates beanies in the “Intermountain West” kitted. The most recent addition is Saguaro National Park at Sunset and Guadalupe Mountains National Park. In the works are Big Bend, White Sands, and Carlsbad Caverns National Parks.
The Silent Lake collection is in and has been selling well – it is full of bright, vibrant fall colors, perfect for the season. For those of you waiting on the Lone Wolf collection, we were notified it is at least 1 month behind in delivery.
October Sale items are the Earthscapes collection by QT Fabrics and the Northern Tracks Quilt Kit and Pattern.
