Summer! Shop Hop! Wool Market! Oh My!

While I mentioned seeing a lot of wildflowers last week, the meadows have exploded with them this week. I went on a hike on Sunday, and I swear between the time I went out and the time I came back more wildflowers had bloomed along the trail. It is also now calving season for the elk! The female elk will not tolerate any males nearby so the males with their fuzzy antlers are roaming on their own. This cow and calf were photographed in the front yard of one of my staff members and the bull was in my driveway. Small bit of trivia – bull antlers grow at the rate of about 1 inch PER DAY through the end of June. This bull will have a huge rack in another 3 weeks. Some younger bulls are just starting to sprout theirs so they will not be as big. Trail Ridge Road is now open too – that is really the start of our Estes Park summer.

This is a BIG week for us – the Northern Colorado Shop Hop begins on Thursday, June 6 and will run through Saturday, June 15. We will be open every day (including Sunday and Monday!) from 10AM to 5PM. If you purchase 1 yd of regular priced fabric you will get a free charm block kit. (The yard of fabric can be used to turn the block into a special project ... we are not allowed to say what it is until June 6 but check our FB page anytime after 12:01AM on Thursday morning to see our beautiful project. (Each store will have their own charm pack based project.) Everyone who comes to our shop as part of Shop Hop will get a charm on a ring and the chance to win a daily prize from Peak to Peak Stitching. If you visit every store and get a stamp in your Passport, you will get a NoCo Shop Hop pin and you will be entered to win special grand prizes. Passports are available now in all Shop Hop Stores so stop in and pick one up so you can plan your quilting adventure! See the NoCo Shop Hop website for more information and for an interactive map.

As part of Shop Hop, we will have signups available for our Rocky Mountain Foundation Paper Piecing Block of the Month. If you sign up, you can go home with the first block (and a surprise). Otherwise, the block will not be available for individual sale until July. BOM members will always have the kits one month ahead of the in-store release of each block!

Wool Market is open at the Estes Park Event Center for shopping next Saturday, June 8 to Sunday June 9. Our booth is #3. Stop by and see the launch of our Alpine Aster Shawlette pattern designed for us by Brianna Arlene. Pick up a kit, a pattern, or sign up for a Quickie 1-Day Retreat with Paula Koerner to knit the Shawlette. We will also have kits of our exclusive Colorful Colorado beanie designed for us by Nancy Bates along with her brand new Classic Colorado beanie that will be available in our store ONLY for the next year.

It is the beginning of a new month and our June sale is on! For June only while supplies last, the Horizon Collection by Robert Kaufman and the Creations Collection by Northcott are on sale for 20% off. The Creations Kitty Corner Kit is also on sale for 20% off (this has nothing to do with kitties, but everything to do with color!).

Our Sit and Stitch Meetup on Wednesdays have not been working because people never seem to show up all at the same time! Several of you suggested a change and we are going to give it a try. Going forward, on Wednesdays, if you are a knitter or crocheter, join us from 10AM -12PM for some social time and a chance to meet fellow yarn fanatics. If you are a quilter or sewist, join us from 12PM – 430PM – you can come a bit early or stay a bit later as desired. Think of Wednesday as a relaxation day! Bring friends and family – stay for a little while or all day long.

Hope to see you as part of Shop Hop or at Wool Market!
