Kids and the Outdoors

The Vernal Equinox is today at 9:06PM. Sunshine = Nighttime so from today on, the days are longer than the nights! 

Here’s what sunshine looks like after 43” of snow. The mountains are white at last.

Late last week, Windham’s Wild North Collection came in and it is the cutest fabric for the younger set that we have seen. These animals and patterns will easily make a quick quilt for your favorite wild animal lover. Cut the animals out (or use the panel as a unit), frame with some borders and you are finished. Or, cut them out and alternate them with squares from the other fabrics in the collection. (Check out the Villa Rosa patterns Corners or Tiles to get you thinking.) This makes a great beginner-friendly or time-is-of-the-essence project.

Another great collection arrives tomorrow for those of you who like to go “camping” at home - The Great Outdoors Collection from Moda. Sure, there are some neat blenders in the collection, but the best part are the panels so you can make a stuffed fire, complete with flames, logs, a rock ring, hot dogs, and s’mores you put together. Also, it will all fit in a bear backpack! Stitch up the fire, then grab some fabric, a blanket, or sheet and some chairs to create a tent in your living room and fuel your kids’ imagination.
