Who let the artic air out???
Winter has hit hard in Estes Park and the rest of the country it seems! If we ever see the mountain peaks again, they are going to finally be covered in snow …unless the wind has blown it all to you folks in the east. The elk herds are down from the high country now and have consolidated as they do every year. It is an impressive site to see hundreds of elk in a meadow.
What quilter, knitter, or crocheter wants to go outside in weather like this when they could stay inside and start a new project or finish an old one? We have pulled together some fabric collections of bright colors to make you think warm thoughts. Check out our patterns and get some fabric or yarn! Our online store is open 24/7 and we strive to get orders out the same day if they are in by noon.
Check out Charisma Poppies, Sunday, and Figo’s Eden.
For our knitters and crocheters, we have some lovely fingering weight yarn in from indie dyer (and pattern designer) Dawn Cottone of MakerWool. Dawn helped select a variety of mini-skein collections and some beautiful yarn and pattern kits that really show off the yarn colors.
We also have full size, worsted weight skeins of our Hot August Knits color “Home on the Range” by local indie dyer Little Squirrel along with custom matching tonals. These rich earthy tones are a pleasure to work with.
A new feature in our newsletter this year is to introduce you to our staff members once a month. Up first this month is Debi. She is our shop manager and also owns Pine Rose Quilting (a longarm quilting business). Here is a bit of her story in her own words:
My quilting journey began when my girls outgrew ruffles. I knew my sewing creative days weren’t over and I was thrilled when I started looking at quilting books. I knew I could follow directions and sew fabric together. After creating many square block quilts, I joined a block of the month group and started learning tips that made quilting even more fun.
Thanks to my mom who also became a quilter and took every class offered, I learned even more. All this learning has allowed me to work in the quilting industry for the past 11 years, become a longarmer, and create my own designs.
Teaching allows the student to try something new and expand their possibilities. Quilting is an expression of ourselves. I am still learning but I love to share what I’ve learned - butting and spinning seams, better points, straight borders, fabulous tools, easy binding, there’s so much to share.
It is hard to believe for us here at Peak to Peak Stitching, but our 1 year anniversary is coming up fast. Keep an eye on the newsletter because we have some fun things planned for our in-store AND online customers. Plan on joining us Saturday, February 13th.
Stay warm everyone!!!
