Is it late summer or early fall?

Late summer or early fall? The answer is that it varies day to day, of course We are still having some warm days and thunderstorms, and we are now getting some cool days and many cooler nights. The elk, moose, and deer are all out of velvet now. The number of hummingbirds at the feeders is shrinking. Even the wildflowers are starting to fade thanks to the cool nights. However, all the rain has ensured that this is truly the greenest late August that anyone can remember.

What are we up to? Lots!

The Welcome to Estes Panel Bag is a hot seller right now – it is a quick to make light canvas bag that will make you think of Estes every time you use it. The panels on the front and back are a smaller version of the big panel used in our "Welcome to Estes" and "Estes Peaks" quilt kits.

Speaking of bags, sign up for our “Festival Sling Bag” class for taking with you to Quilt-a-Fair (or any other fall event) to hold all of your finds.

Quilt-a-Fair is coming! Make plans to attend Thursday, September 21 through Saturday, September 23 at the Boulder County Fairgrounds, 9595 Nelson Rd., Longmont. It is a fun event with excellent vendors and great demos. Stop by our booth and say hi!

For you knitters out there, we have kitted the Saguaro National Park (Daytime) beanie from Nancy Bates’ book Knitting the National Parks. This is a staff favorite. The pattern and the leather tags for Saguaro are available as well! (Glacier National Park will be the next beanie to be kitted - coming in September.)

Landscape art is a great way to create with fabric and not have to sew. Northcott’s latest Naturescapes line came in and we have a bunch of beautiful “stained glass” landscape art kits ready for those of you who want to kit without having to stitch. We have patterns and kits for wall hangings and patterns for throws.(Killarney, Hidden Path, The Falls)

Back in stock by popular demand is Wild Blossoms Rainbow – while we still have great coordinating fabrics, the Wild Blossoms Rainbow fabric can be simply made into a tablecloth or a table runner by just serging or folding the edges. This is a very versatile and beautiful print.

Take care everyone. Enjoy late summer … or is it early fall? … in the Rockies!
