Class Description: This is a two-session class designed to be an introduction to basic quilting techniques. In the first session the instructor will demonstrate pressing, cutting, and block piecing techniques to enable the student to finish two placemat tops. Quilting terms, tips, and tricks will be discussed throughout the sessions. In session two, students will learn how to make a quilt sandwich, machine quilt, and sew binding to finish the placemat tops which were constructed in the first session.
Dates: March 1 and 8, 2025. Last date to register February 22, 2025.
Time: Setup starts at 8:30 a.m. Class is 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., 1-hour lunch, 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Prerequisite skills: Basic sewing skills
Required Materials: (Available at Peak to PeakTM Stitching ; 10% discount for class materials)
- Sewing machine in good running condition with power cord, pedal and owner’s manual and be familiar with how to use it.
- Placemat kit, from Peak to PeakTM Stitching
- Walking Foot that fits your machine (for second session)
- Basic sewing tools, scissors or snips, seam ripper, bobbins, pins
- Rotary cutter with new blade- Quilting 6 ½” x 24” ruler minimum
- Cutting mat 18” x 24” minimum
- Hand needles – Sharps size 9 recommended

Cancellation Policy:
Cancellations made two weeks before the course starts will be refunded if the cancellation does not drop the number of attendees below the minimum; a $25 cancellation fee will be applied. If your cancellation drops the number of attendees below the minimum number of attendees or if your cancellation is made less than two weeks before the course starts, no refund will be available unless we are able to re-sell your spot. If we can re-sell your spot, we will refund your registration fee less a $25 cancellation fee.
