2024 - 01/27 Mix and Match Winter Warmup Quilt - Sail Away Sampler
Class Description:
Are you looking for some weekly winter fun? Join us in a sampler class with two finishing options. From the Mix and Match book by Scott Flanagan we’ve chosen The Sail Away Sampler, which turns the sampler blocks diagonally with a double sashing bringing the blocks together. This quilt is for the confident beginner to intermediate quilter. Finished size is 63” x 80”.
We’ve chosen some earthy warm colors for the blocks. No winter blues with these colors. Kits are made with an earthy palette of fabrics.
- Borders - multiple color fabric
- Sashing - dark teal
- Block pieces – solids
- Block and background - cream
Sail Away Sampler turns the sampler blocks diagonally with a double sashing bringing the blocks together. Sail Away Sampler is for the confident beginner to intermediate quilter. Finished size is 63” x 80”.
Classes will be available online. The first class (January 27) and will be live on Zoom. The next five classes will be emailed recordings on the class dates listed. Every other week will be live a Questions and Answer at 9:00AM mountain time.
Class Size: Minimum 4, maximum 20
Required Materials: (Available at Peak to Peak Stitching; 10% discount for class materials)
- Mix and Match Book by Scott Flanagan, (must be purchased from Peak to Peak Stitching)
- Sewing machine in good working condition
- Basic sewing supplies, (pins, seam ripper, bobbins, scissors, etc.)
- Iron and Ironing surface
- Cutting mat
- Marking pen
- Thread - recommend Aurifil 50wt
- Needles – recommend Microtex 80/12
- 6” x 24” ruler - recommend Creative Grids
- Rotary Cutter with a new blade

| Instructor Bio: | My quilting journey began when my girls outgrew ruffles. I knew my sewing creative days weren't over and I was thrilled when I started looking at quilting books. I knew I could follow directions and sew fabric together. After many square block quilts I joined a block of the month group and started learning tips that made quilting even more fun. Thanks to my mom who also became a quilter and took every class offered, I learned even more. All this learning has allowed me to work in the quilting industry for the past 11 years, become a longarmer, and create my own designs. Teaching allows the student to try something new and expand their possibilities. Quilting is an expression of ourselves. I'm still learning but I love to share what I've learned - butting and spinning seams, better points, straight borders, fabulous tools, easy binding, there's so much to share. I live in Estes Park, I?m the quilt manager at Peak to Peak Stitching, and I own Pine Rose Quilting (a longarm quilting business).
